stretford

Situated in the south west of Manchester, Stretford's location and proximity to places like Salford and Old Trafford land it along one of the main roads that lead into and out of central Manchester.

The effects of this have led to the slow divide in the community and the loss of a sense of place, as the public realm has been repeatedly claimed by motor traffic over time. By addressing issues through a focus on public realm and transportation links, I believe that the sense of community could be restored to Stretford.

After identifying the main issues and outlining a plan for action, as a practice, we began investigating how we could respond to ideas and methods that set us on the course to our individual responses to the issues in Stretford.

My design strategy is influenced by a combination of my findings and experiences over the course of the project. Each of the three points will complement the other, aiding the design and maximising its impact on the local community.
