A consolidation/comparison of design iteration outcomes vs project drivers

Given that each of my three iterations had focused on one aspect of the project development, I think that it would be important to try and consolidate the findings and the resulting design outcomes against the project drivers to make sure that I have not lost sight of the core drivers that I had outlined earlier on.

A focus on incorporating cycling into the building organisational layout

A key consideration that I had not yet explored fully in my iterations is how to encorporate cycling into the scheme. This, rather clearly, is a big part of the scheme and would therefore need to be carefully considered and included in further development and refinement.

Consider programme via a new brief for each space

As I begin to look at the spaces within the three main volumes in my scheme, it becomes more important to have a strong understanding of how the spaces inside would function, and as a result, be serviced and accessed. By writing a short brief for each building, the programme becomes a lot clearer than "workshop space, office space, cafe space" and allows for more focused design outcomes.

Make better use of bounding spaces

The size of the site and nature of its surroundings make a key point in our master plan for stretford. managing the spaces around the building is vital in ensuring that the space around the plot and the scheme don't just become waste space, but rather becomes another community asset, whether or not the people using those spaces are also using the buildings in my scheme.

Consider environmental factors and effects on each building

A basic requirement for any building, this is something I have yet to consider in my iterations and would like to explore further. There is ample opportunity for daylighting in the scheme, given the low-rise surroundings. The greenhouse is probably the most sensitive to diurnal temperature changes and direct sunlight, ensuring that this space is comfortable is particularly important in making sure that it is comfortable and habitable during the summer and the winter.
