stretford

A town that is being suffocated by the very same roads and connections that bring it to life, Stretford has become a drive-through town with no strong sense of community obvious to those who don't look further than the A56 and A5145. It is this very paradox that creates an interesting opportunity for design.

On our practise website, we looked at the assets that the community had access to in Stretford, this helped inform my initial design decisions. Click the title to read more about research and findings (Link to TTHE workshop website).

My site for this project is directly next to the royal mail office and right next to the bridge water canal toe path. I chose this site because of its proximity to the canal and because I felt that this area is being heavily under-utilised (primarily providing car parking space for the shops).
